Translating
The page panel
A small button on your site opens the panel for translators. It shows the current language, how much is translated and who translated it.
What it is
WPGlotty adds a small button to a corner of your site, which only people who can translate see. It shows the language code and how much of the page is translated. Click it to open the panel.
The panel shows the current language, translation progress and a search result preview. It also has a link to open the editor.
Switching language
The panel lists all your site’s languages and shows how much is translated in each. Click a language to open that version of the same page.
The search result
The panel previews the SEO title and description as a search result in the current language. On a translated page, a link shows you the source-language version too.
Highlighting untranslated text
Tick the box in the panel to highlight untranslated text on the page. This shows what still needs work without making you read the whole page. The panel remembers your choice as you move between pages.
Highlighting covers visible page text, not attributes, structured data or fields in the page head. It will not highlight a missing SEO title. Use the panel’s search result preview to check the title and description instead.
Who translated it, and when
The panel groups translations by their source: individual people, machine translation or imports from other plugins. Each entry shows the number of strings and the date of the most recent translation.
A person gets credit only for editor changes that differ from the machine’s suggestion. Saving a machine translation unchanged leaves it under machine translation. Approving two hundred strings without changing any wording therefore does not count as translating two hundred strings.
Click a name to highlight that person’s translations on the page. Click it again to remove the highlight, or choose another name to highlight their work instead.
Who sees it
Only people who can translate see the panel: administrators and editors by default, plus users with the plugin’s Translator role. For everyone else, including ordinary visitors, WPGlotty adds no panel element, style or script to the page.
Turning it off
Go to WPGlotty, then Settings, and open the Translation settings tab. In the Page panel row, untick “Show the WPGlotty panel on the site to people who translate”. This hides the panel for everyone.
